The covid-19 outbreak in the Lombardy region of Italy is expected to completely disappear by the end of May, 2020.
A study by researchers from the national research council of Italy (CNR), the university of Athens medical school in Greece, and the university of Federico ii in Italy was published online on the medical preprint platform,medRxiv on March 20, Italian local time. “Tracing DAY-ZERO and Forecasting the Fade out of the COVID-19 Outbreak in Lombardy, Italy: A Compartmental Modelling and Numerical Optimization”. They used regional modeling and numerical optimization to track the outbreak of covid-19 in the Lombardy region of Italy on January 21, DAY 0, and predicted that by the end of May, 2020 the outbreak of covid-19 in the Lombardy region would have completely disappeared.
